Challenging Growth

Every day trucks, RVs and cars leave Phoenix to head north on the I-17 to reach northern Arizona towns and to connect to the i40. The incredible growth of Phoenix over the last 10 years have left the facilities on this route unprepared to meet the demand of this traffic. The Depot Station development site is uniquely positioned half way along the route and well positioned to serve the overflow of trucks and other traffic needing overnight parking and other services.

Sunset Point the largest public rest stop is deemed inadequate for the current growth and traffic. The department of transportation is asking for private development to solve the congestion problem along i17. In addition, Sunset Point is unsuitable for expansion and limited public funding in the near term has placed the focus on the private sector to satisfy the needs for rest stop and services along the i17 corridor. The existing travel centers that were developed privately along the corridor while sucessful, simply do not offer the exclusive location that Deport Station has. Depot Station uniquely sits at the nearly halfway point between Phoenix and the i40 intersection in Flagstaff.
